Victoria

Available for Adoption

Victoria is a 2-3 year old mixed breed that recently gave birth in the shelter. Our friends at Aska’s Animals helped her raise her puppies and she’s ready to start a new life on her own!

Here’s what they have to say about her:

Oh Victoria! She could likely be with a calm neutral dog, she gets a little overwhelmed by very playful dogs but seeks her person when she is unsure of something which is lovely. When she is scared she comes to your hip and sits next to you nervously(doesn’t lunge or bark)

She does resource guard food items so will need to be fed separately.

She has been making friends quicker recently, ignoring her and treats go a long way! Once you’re in she just wants to be by your side and lots of pets. But she will need someone who can advocate for her (slowing people down and instructing them not to pet but ignore to help build comfort here). She is a poster child for body language so easy to read when she’s uncomfortable.

She is so incredibly loving she just needs a little time to learn people aren’t so scary. And again once you are in, she is totally trusting and good w all handling.

I would say no kids just w how unsure she is to start, a fast moving kiddo would likely be very overwhelming for her. For a nervous girl, the lovely thing is that she looks to her person for comfort, safety, protection vs reacting/barking/lunging. But this can also be hard because she will need someone who can recognize when she needs help out of a situation so she doesn’t become reactive.
